Audio and Music Production

The program is project-experiential based with daily hands-on application of training in five specific integrated areas:

• Computer music production: 

• Learn how to use the computer along with professional software to produce music and audio content. 
• Each student has their own computer music workstation.
  • This gives students a lot of “hands-on” time to actually apply what is learned. How cool is that?

• Audio recording and studio production: 

• Learn how professionals record artists (and yourself) in the recording studio. 
• Use and learn about the gear involved (like mics, preamps, etc.) to produce in the studio. 
• Students have real pro gear.

• Editing, mixing and mastering:

•  Use professional industry-standard Pro Tools software.

• Basic music theory: 

• Learn about the basic building blocks of music theory to grow as producers.
• Communicate with artists and each other about music and music production.

• The Physics of Sound:

• This program offers one full science credit for the academic year for our work studying a custom-created physics of sound. 
• You find this area of science just about everywhere in our study of sound.

This is for students interested in audio production, producing their own music, producing other artists and musicians and being an audio producer-tech in all related fields (TV, film, radio, web content, audio for gaming, voice-overs, etc.)

You must be a junior or senior who is on track with your academic credits well enough to fit in with being at Warren Tech for half of your school day. You also need to be dedicated and genuinely interested.

Students start at the very beginning in each area of study. Prior experience is not needed. You don’t even need to play a musical instrument to succeed in this program. Each student has a complete audio workstation.

Students receive one science academic credit and 12 Red Rocks Community College Credits- for free.

Also, students prepare for life after high school by focusing on professional and personal skills that are needed to succeed.
