Physical Therapy

Overview

Are you interested in healthcare and learning how the body moves and works? Would you like to be part of a team that supports people’s recovery from injury and helps them live productive, physically active lives? Do you dream of working in a clinic, hospital or fitness facility?

This program is designed for students interested in physical or occupational therapy, orthopedic medicine or other kinesiology-related fields. Students will be prepared to work under the direct supervision of physical and occupational therapists in outpatient clinical settings with patients who have function-limiting conditions.

Students will learn to prepare treatment areas, perform treatment modalities and lead or monitor exercise interventions. In addition to learning these hands-on therapeutic skills, students will acquire clerical and administrative skills related to health insurance, patient scheduling and clinical communication.

Students meeting academic and skills standards will have the opportunity to test for the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Physical Therapy Technician certification during the spring semester.
