Sports Medicine
Overview
Are you interested in healthcare and athletics? Do you dream of helping your favorite athlete meet the challenges of competition by providing necessary medical assistance? Are you a people person and a good listener? Do you enjoy competition, as well as working closely with others as a part of a team?
Sports Medicine is designed for students interested in fields such as athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, personal training, kinesiology and other sports medicine-related fields.
This program includes experiences and practical hands-on application in the following areas:
- Injury prevention and treatment
- Rehabilitation of sports injuries
- Taping and wrapping of injuries
- Nutrition
- Sports psychology
- Anatomy and physiology
- Fitness and conditioning programs
- Sports medicine careers
The increase in the popularity of recreational and competitive sports is growing rapidly in the United States and there is an emphasis on preventative care.
