Game Development

Student on augmented realityProgram Overview

Are you a team player and a good communicator? Are you creative, but also possess technical aptitude? Are you detail-oriented, able to multitask? Do you work well with others? Can you see “the big picture” and remain flexible? Do you enjoy learning new technologies and applying creativity and logic to solve problems? Would you like to be involved in a team that translates ideas into video game action?

In the Game Development program at Warren Tech students design and write game software for PCs, game consoles, phones and tablets. Students will turn animation, art and music into games that people love to buy and play. In this class students learn 2-D and 3-D programming, computer modeling, animation, lighting and rigging. Using a team-centered, problem-solving approach, students can develop the skills needed to be successful in the game development environment. This class is not about playing video games. Playing games doesn’t qualify you to create games, but becoming a game developer does require a love for games. You will need a mix of dedication, knowledge, and the ability to work as part of a team. The Game Development program provides a foundation for students to pursue a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science or Art in Animation and Game Development. Many colleges now offer an emphasis in Art or Science for game development.
